Legacy Giving

What is legacy giving?

Legacy giving is a meaningful way for supporters of Ariel Ministries to extend their faith, values, and generosity far beyond their lifetime. It typically involves including the ministry in a will, trust, or beneficiary designation, such as life insurance, retirement accounts, or other planned gifts, so that the work of the ministry continues for future generations. Legacy giving isn’t defined by the size or complexity of a gift rather it is a reflection of intentional stewardship of what we ourselves have received.

PUT STOCK IN DISCIPLESHIP

Donating stocks or mutual funds to Ariel Ministries is a meaningful and efficient way to advance the gospel from a Messianic Jewish perspective. Your gift of appreciated securities turns wise stewardship into lasting spiritual impact. By giving in this tax-smart way, you may be able to avoid capital gains tax, receive valuable tax benefits, and maximize the reach of your generosity—empowering Messianic Jewish discipleship around the world.

HOW YOU BENEFIT

  • You receive credit and an immediate income tax deduction for the fair market value (the average of the high and low prices on the day of the transfer).
  • You avoid capital gains tax.
  • Please note that the securities you use to make your gift must have been held by you for more than one year to be fully deductible.

HOW IT WORKS

You can make a gift of appreciated securities—publicly traded stocks, bonds and mutual fund shares—to Ariel Ministries while avoiding capital gains tax, diversifying your portfolio and/or securing a stream of income. It’s a simple and efficient way to give.

You transfer appreciated securities to Ariel Ministries.
Ariel Ministries sells the securities and uses the proceeds to fund evangelism and discipleship from a Messianic Jewish perspective.

Donor Advised Funds

GIVING MADE SIMPLE WITH DONOR-ADVISED FUNDS One of the fastest-growing and most flexible giving vehicles, a donor-advised fund (DAF) is a charitable giving account that is sponsored by a public charity (e.g., HighGround Advisors) and funded by a donor’s tax-deductible contributions of cash, stock, mutual funds or other assets. Contributions to a DAF have the potential to grow, tax-free, over time, and donors retain the right to recommend grants from the DAF to eligible charities of their choice. A DAF is an excellent vehicle for donors who wish to maximize their charitable impact, give in a tax-advantageous way, and streamline the administration of their donations.

GIVE GROW GRANT

Ariel Ministries has partnered with HighGround Advisors to help our constituents to plan for the future.  We encourage you to contact our Director of Corporate Office for more information.  Ariel has partnered with HighGround because of their three-step approach: Give, Grow, Grant.

  • GIVE Because HighGround is a public charity, when a donor makes a contribution of cash, securities or noncash assets to a DAF, they are eligible for an immediate tax deduction.
  • GROW HighGround offers five investment funds in which donors may invest their DAF contributions. These investment funds are comprised of underlying asset allocation strategies that are intended to align with the donor’s charitable giving time horizon. Once a donor selects which investment fund is right for them, their contribution will have the potential to grow, tax-free, maximizing the donor’s charitable impact.
  • GRANT At any time, donors can recommend grants from their DAF to the qualified U.S. charities of their choice. HighGround performs due diligence, mails the checks to the selected charities and provides donors with one tax receipt at the end of the year, making the giving process easier than ever. And HighGround does not charge administrative fees on our DAFs, which means more money can be granted to charity.

HOW DO DAFS WORK?

  1. You make a contribution to a DAF through a certified charity organization, such as HighGround or Fidelity. You can ask your financial advisor or contact our Director of Corporate to receive information on our partnership with HighGround Advisors.
  2. Funds grow as the charity organization manages them. They are invested into stock, bonds, mutual funds, or other securities as agreed up by the charity and the donor.
  3. Finally, at any time, grants can made at the direction of the donor tocan recommend grants to qualified charity organizations that align with their wishes and values.

ADDITIONAL BENEFITS

GIVE NONCASH ASSETS
Publicly traded securities and other illiquid gifts that have been held for over a year can be contributed to a DAF at fair market value and are not subject to capital gains tax, which means more money goes to your favorite charity.

GIVE NOW, DECIDE LATER
With a DAF, you can realize a charitable tax deduction in the year of your contribution but have additional time to decide which charities to benefit.

SIMPLIFY TAX SEASON
When your charitable giving is streamlined through your DAF, you only have one tax receipt at the end of the year.

USE A WINDFALL FOR GOOD
You can reduce the tax burden of a financial windfall by contributing extra income to your DAF and using that income to prefund years of charitable giving.

LEAVE A GIVING LEGACY
You can create a succession plan for your DAF to ensure that your philanthropic goals are met with the balance that remains upon your death. You can also name your DAF as a beneficiary in your will, thus reducing the estate tax burden on your heirs.

TEACH GENERATIONS TO GIVE
You can open a DAF with your children or grandchildren and weave philanthropy into the fabric of your family.

ALIGN YOUR VALUES
Ariel Ministries partners with HighGround Advisors because HighGround’s values are founded in faith and reflect our call to service for God’s glory. They champion the work of nonprofits, churches, and ministries, and when you make them your charitable giving partner, you align yourself with an organization that shares your mission and ours.

Gift by Will

A will is a straightforward and effective way for a donor to continue a lifelong legacy of stewardship by making a charitable gift upon their death. For individuals who wish to include Ariel Ministries in their estate plans, the process is designed to be transparent, donor-driven, and ethically sound.

While our partner, HighGround Advisors, does not draft wills or other testamentary documents for donors who intend to benefit our nonprofit clients, as doing so would present a conflict of interest. Instead, donors are encouraged to work directly with their own qualified legal counsel to ensure their estate plans accurately reflect their personal intentions and financial circumstances.

Once a donor has expressed interest in including Ariel Ministries as a beneficiary, Ariel Ministries may coordinate with Highmark and HighGround Advisors to support the donor’s planning process. With the donor’s permission, HighGround Advisors will collaborate with the donor’s attorney by providing clear, standardized charitable gift language, beneficiary designation guidance, and organizational details needed to properly document the intended gift.

This information is forwarded to HighGround through Ariel Ministries as appropriate, ensuring alignment between the donor’s wishes, the ministry’s acceptance policies, and administrative requirements. This collaborative approach safeguards the donor’s independence, avoids conflicts of interest, and ensures that the charitable intent is carried out accurately and efficiently. By working together—donor, attorney, Ariel Ministries, and HighGround Advisors—the process honors the donor’s legacy while providing clarity and confidence that the gift will be used in accordance with their values and charitable goals.
