Tibni, son of Ginath

After the death of Zimri, support was divided between Tibni and Omri for king. While half of the people saw Tibni as their king for a time, the followers of Omri ultimately prevailed.

Tibni is generally not counted by scholars among the Kings of Israel as his rule was only partial. Civil war raged for four years between the factions of Tibni and Omri. The Scripture then records: “Tibni died, and Omri reigned.” (1Ki 16:22)
